London Overground - Dalston Curve

PROJECT

The East and North London Lines were being joined up at the Dalston Western Curve in a logistically complex project.

BRIEF

Our client, Birse Metro, employed us to carry out the full removal of existing lead based paint to 2 bridges and a covered way. We then had to respray with an approved intumescent coating, which involved wet blasting in an encapsulated environment. H&S were responsible for decontamination equipment and the removal of all toxic waste.

SOLUTION

In common with many rail projects handled by H&S, we exploited a very short time window when the power was off to complete the works during nights. To ensure total working efficiency we backed up on men, materials and equipment (such as generators) to ensure we maximised use of the working time.

OUTCOME

“The management and operatives of H&S have demonstrated good technical expertise and executed works safely and efficiently.”

James Renwick   Project Manager, Birse Metro
