PROJECT

To keep pace with developments in forensic analysis the Metropolitan Police needed to create a state-of-the-art laboratory.  The existing facility in Lambeth was re-designed by Sheppard Robson Architects with Mace appointed to carry out the refurbishment.

BRIEF

A sterile environment is a prerequisite where forensic analysis such as fingerprinting, DNA and firearms is undertaken. To meet the strict hygiene requirements the architects specified Sikagard wall coatings which are highly durable and resistant to frequent cleaning.

SOLUTION

H&S are a recommended Sika contractor and were selected to carry out the application of the specified Sikagard system. This involved exploiting the fast drying properties of the product to apply two coats within 24 hours.

OUTCOME

Using many years’ experience of applying Sikagard products and systems, H&S helped Mace provide the Metropolitan Police with one of Europe’s leading forensic analysis laboratories.
