Health and safety is fundamental to the way H&S plans, manages and delivers its work. Every project presents its own environment, programme, interfaces and risks, which is why our approach starts before work begins. We consider how our activities will be undertaken, who may be affected and what controls, information and supervision are required to support safe delivery.
Our aim is to create working environments in which people understand what is expected of them, feel able to raise concerns and recognise their own responsibility for protecting themselves and those around them. From initial planning and site mobilisation through to active delivery and completion, health and safety remains part of the decisions we make every day.

Safety in every decision.
Our commitment to health and safety goes beyond compliance. We want safe working to be embedded in the way projects are planned, communicated and delivered.
That begins with understanding the work. Appropriate risk assessment, method planning, access considerations, material information and project requirements help establish how activities can be carried out safely. As work progresses, supervision, communication and good housekeeping help maintain those standards and respond to changing site conditions.
Competence is equally important. Our people need the appropriate knowledge, training, experience and support to perform their roles effectively. Site briefings, toolbox talks and ongoing communication help reinforce expectations and provide opportunities to discuss risks, changes and concerns.
Everyone working with H&S has a part to play. Management provides leadership and appropriate systems; supervisors help translate those requirements into day-to-day site activity; and individuals are expected to work responsibly, follow agreed arrangements and speak up where something does not appear right.
We believe strong health and safety performance depends on continual improvement. Experience from our projects, observations, feedback and changing requirements all provide opportunities to review the way we work and strengthen our approach.
Ultimately, the objective is straightforward: protect our people, our project partners and everyone affected by our work while delivering safely, professionally and responsibly.
